Resume checker for project managers
Project manager resumes are read for two things: the size of what you delivered and whether you owned the risks. Screening, meanwhile, is literal about tools and methodology words.
What project managers get screened on
01Most PM postings name a methodology and a tool stack, then describe a domain. The checker matches the tool names exactly, and the content layer looks for budget, scope, and risk evidence in the bullets.
- Project managementTitle and summary; it is what the filter looks for first
- Stakeholder managementExperience bullet naming the functions in the room
- Risk managementExperience bullet with one risk you actually closed
- BudgetingExperience bullet with the budget size
- Vendor managementExperience bullet with the contract milestone
- Change managementExperience bullet on an adoption problem
- Agile / ScrumSkills line; one bullet about the ceremony you ran
- KanbanSkills line only if you ran a board, not if you attended one
- Jira / ConfluenceSkills line. These match literally
- Program managementUse it only for multi-project ownership
Two bullets, before and after
02Each rewrite reuses only the figures already in the original line. Nothing here invents a number you would have to defend in an interview.
Responsible for delivering a $4.2M billing system replacement.
Delivered a $4.2M billing system replacement across four departments, on schedule.
The rewrite leads with the verb the reader is looking for and keeps the budget and scope numbers.
Helped with change management communications during the SAP rollout.
Ran change management for the SAP rollout: training for 120 users and a weekly adoption report.
“Helped with” leaves the reader guessing your contribution. Name the artifacts and the audience.
Where these resumes break
03- —RAID logs and status tables pasted into the resume parse cell by cell, which can detach a risk from the project it belongs to.
- —Dates written two ways in the same file — “06/2020” in one role and “Jun 2020” in another — cost the date-consistency rule.
- —“PM” is mapped to project management by the synonym table, but a human reader may read product manager. Spell it out in the title line.
A sample, scored
04A made-up seven-year PM with one real-sized budget and one vague coordinator line. The gap between those two bullets is the point of the content layer.
This sample was written for this page, not scraped from a real candidate. The score is computed by the same rules your file would run through, so it moves whenever the rules change — which is why it is not a hard-coded number.
