Resume checker for UX designers
Design resumes are portfolios in text form, and screening cannot open your portfolio. What it can read is whether the terms the posting uses — research, prototyping, design system — are in the file.
What UX designers get screened on
01Design postings usually name the tool, the craft words, and the collaboration model. Tool names match literally. Research and testing terms only count if you wrote them; a link to a case study is not a match.
- UX design / UI designWrite both out once; “UX/UI” as a single token is weaker
- FigmaSkills line plus the design-system bullet
- PrototypingExperience bullet — what the prototype answered
- WireframingExperience bullet, ideally before the prototype
- Design systemExperience bullet with adoption, not the component count
- User researchExperience bullet with the number of sessions
- Usability testingExperience bullet with the round and the finding
- AccessibilityExperience bullet naming the standard you met
- Sketch / Adobe XDSkills line; keep legacy tools only if a posting names them
- User storiesUseful if you write them with engineering; otherwise omit
Two bullets, before and after
02Each rewrite reuses only the figures already in the original line. Nothing here invents a number you would have to defend in an interview.
Responsible for prototyping and wireframing the scheduling module.
Prototyped and wireframed the scheduling module across 3 iterations, each tested with 5 users.
The rewrite says how the work moved, which is what separates designing from iterating.
Helped maintain the Sketch library.
Maintained a Sketch library of 40 components used by two product teams.
“Helped maintain” hides ownership. A count and a consumer make the scope legible.
Where these resumes break
03- —Portfolio links placed inside an image or text box may not extract at all. Put the URL in the contact line as plain text.
- —“UX/UI” written as one token reads as neither “UX design” nor “UI design” in an exact-match check. Write both terms out once.
- —Case study screenshots add page length and no text; if the story is only in images, the screening step never sees it.
A sample, scored
04A made-up five-year product designer with real research volume and one intentionally vague library line.
This sample was written for this page, not scraped from a real candidate. The score is computed by the same rules your file would run through, so it moves whenever the rules change — which is why it is not a hard-coded number.
