Resume checker for customer success managers
Customer success resumes tend to describe activity — meetings, QBRs, escalations. Screening looks for the outcome terms: retention, onboarding, CRM, and the size of the book you carried.
What customer success managers get screened on
01The literal part of a CS posting is short: the CRM product, the retention or churn wording the company uses, and the segment. Portfolio size and ARR are what a human reads second.
- Customer successSummary and the most recent title
- Account managementExperience bullet with the size of the book
- Customer retentionExperience bullet with the actual rate
- OnboardingExperience bullet — how many accounts, over what period
- CRM / SalesforceSkills line; spell out CRM once so both strings match
- KPIExperience bullet naming the metric you owned
- Cross-functionalEscalation bullet naming product and support
- Problem solvingSkills line, or a bullet about one hard case
- Stakeholder managementQBR bullet, naming the titles in the room
- CommunicationSkills line. It is expected; do not spend a bullet on it
Two bullets, before and after
02Each rewrite reuses only the figures already in the original line. Nothing here invents a number you would have to defend in an interview.
Responsible for 60 accounts with 94% retention.
Renewed 60 accounts worth $3.1M in annual recurring revenue at 94% retention.
The rewrite converts a count into money and keeps the retention number, which is what the hiring manager scans for.
Helped with onboarding new customers.
Onboarded 200 small business accounts in the first year, using a checklist the team kept.
Volume and a reusable artifact turn a vague contribution into something a reader can picture.
Where these resumes break
03- —“CSM” is not “customer success” in an exact-match check. Write the full term once, in the summary or the title.
- —Account logos rendered as images add no text, so the segment you claim never appears in the parsed file.
- —Churn and retention numbers buried inside a table cell lose the bullet they belong to.
A sample, scored
04A made-up five-year CSM carrying a book of 60 accounts. Two bullets are weak by design, so you can see what the fix list does with them.
This sample was written for this page, not scraped from a real candidate. The score is computed by the same rules your file would run through, so it moves whenever the rules change — which is why it is not a hard-coded number.
